Please be sure to include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the return of your dog tag(s) issued.
Each dog receives a distinctive tag number (dog kennels receive five consecutively numbered tags). Once your dog has been assigned a license, the license number and the information about him is filed in the county’s records.
For more information on licensing your dog, you may call the Mercer County Auditor’s Office at (419) 586-6402.
County dog and kennel licenses are available December 1 prior to the new calendar year. The deadline to file an application for registration is January 31 of the licensed year. There is a late penalty fee equal to the one-year registration fee.
STATE LAW REQUIRES THAT ALL DOGS MUST BE LICENSED BY THE TIME THEY BECOME THREE MONTHS OF AGE.
If you obtain a dog after January 31, the law requires its registration within thirty (30) days of your becoming the owner. The late registration fee is double the original license fee ($30.00).
Due to limited resources, we are unable to offer set hours at the dog pound. Please call (419) 942-1550 to view dogs or for dog control service. If no answer, please leave a message.
