Each dog receives a distinctive tag number (dog kennels receive five consecutively numbered tags). Once your dog has been assigned a license, the license number and the information about him is filed in the county’s records.

Fees
County dog and kennel licenses are available December 1 prior to the new calendar year. The deadline to file an application for registration is January 31 of the licensed year. There is a late penalty fee equal to the one-year registration fee.
STATE LAW REQUIRES THAT ALL DOGS MUST BE LICENSED BY THE TIME THEY BECOME THREE MONTHS OF AGE.
If you obtain a dog after January 31, the law requires its registration within thirty (30) days of your becoming the owner. The late registration fee is double the original license fee ($30.00).
