Key Responsibilities of the Mercer County Tax Map Department
Our responsibilities in the Tax Map Department are quite vast and include:
- Deed Transfers,
- Plat Approval,
- Property Descriptions,
- Upkeep All County Maps,
as well as GIS coordination, county address assignments, and assisting the public with property issues.
The map upkeep is the backbone of our office. We first draw the maps in Autodesk Map 5 which is a computer program that takes place of our pencil and paper. After parcels, roadways, subdivisions, corporation limit, and waterways are drawn in we then link the TAX info with MAP info and provide it on our internal network as well as on the web site.
